XBox 360

In the interest of giving credit where credit is due, Microsoft appears to have hit it out of the ballpark with XBox 360. Not bad for only their second try. Sony has a lot of catching up to do, as Microsoft has set the bar pretty high.
From XBox Live, to media-center integration, to HDTV support, the XBox seems to have gotten it all right. My only gripe is that the media center stuff only works with a windows PC. Bummer. I guess that means my MythTV box still has some use.

I've heard some good things about Nintendo's surprise "Revolution" they have planned for next year. Possibly motion sensors / unique input devices and a unique gameplay experience? For now, it's all rumor - but we can dream!

I took a short nap shortly after making that post, and had a dream that I bought an Xbox 360 and it played DiVX, MPEG-4, and H.264 movies with no trouble. If it did that... I might just buy one... That's a bit of a stretch though.

Of course it would also have to play more than "Overhyped Generic Sequel 6" for me and my rather eclectic tastes to be interested. But that goes for all the next gen consoles.
Hopefully industry consolidation and the continuing increase of development budgets doesn't eject innovations in gameplay and presentation from the market.
