Google Talk Federates!
Tuesday, January 17, 2006 by darcoPosted in Jabber, Google Talk
It would appear that Google Talk has has not only begun testing Server-to-Server communication with the google.com domain, but also enabled S2S communication for gmail.com! This should be the major turning point for Jabber adoption. It's time to take over the world.
UPDATE: Official Announcement | Official Discussion Forum
After some testing, I can confirm that I can send IM's from gmail.com to my own Jabber address, but not the other way around. How curious.
Turns out Jabberd2 was broken, so I fixed it and now it works great. ^_^

Hi darco,
It appears you didn't understand my blog entry you linked to. Server-to-server communication has been turned on for gmail.com!

Ahh. That's what my original post said, but after doing a bit of digging I wasn't so sure so I decided to make my claim to be a bit more conservative. I have happily rolled it back.
